Velocity Checks
Overview
Velocity checks help to identify unusual patterns of behaviour, such as a sudden increase in transaction frequency or multiple transactions within a short time frame. This may indicate compromised cards or potential fraudulent activities. Any transaction attempts made after the velocity limit has been reached will result in a blocked status, advising the transaction could not be completed.
Velocity checks can be applied by setting minimum and maximum amounts for single transactions, or applying a total maximum limit for the volume and value of transactions processed daily or monthly. We can also set a limit on the number of attempts made by a single cardholder. Velocity checks can be configured at either MID or company level to prevent abusive or excessive use of your services, protecting your business and customers
Velocity Checks can be implemented on the following factors:
- IP Address
- Email Address
- Phone Number
- Refund Amount
Any transaction attempts made after the maximum count has been achieved will result in a blocked
status, advising the transaction could not be completed.
